Every great or bad decision derives from the heart! The writer of Proverbs 4:23 echoes the above truth — Guard your heart above all else, for it determines the course of your life.
For EPCC, we desire to deal with the heart, and thus discipling the heart–the training and coaching of the inner recesses of our lives. The Church in Acts was a world impacting and community transforming church. Before the Church could reach the world, God worked in them – in the areas of fellowship, unity, possession, priority, purpose and spiritual fervency, all of which were determined by the heart.
For 2019, there are four “heart” issues that we, as believers, desire to grow and mature in before we build the passion for the needy and the community around us.
Commitment to Adult Sunday School, Discipleship training classes, reading the Bible in a year and growing through exposure in conferences and seminars that build us.
Sharpening our Corporate Prayer Life (weekly and monthly church-wide prayer life) and growing in Revival Prayer Life (21-Day Fast at the start of the New Year, Easter, Christmas and NECF’s 40 days).
Small group commitment and Mission Trip (team work) efforts. The early church did great exploits but not until they got their hearts knitted to other believers through house fellowships and temple gatherings!
Jesus said, “For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also” (Matthew 6:21). We desire freedom and revelation in giving. Helping members to understand that tithing is more than just giving but growing in worship and honoring God.
